The leader of a cult group who was arrested arrested over the weekend by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command in has said that no amount of gun – shot can penetrate his body. The cult suspect, Andrew Awalebi, 35, who belonged to Eiye Confraternity, was arrested on Friday morning at a beer parlour in company of three other cult members around 8:00 a.m. Two other members of the cult group, Adegoke Adeleke (30), Kehinde Adebogun (31), were also picked up early Saturday morning at an hotel in Ikorodu. Awalebi, from Ilaje Local Government, Ondo State was given out by Michael Thompson of the same Eiye Confraternity as a cult leader. Thompson was arrested a night before for robbery in National Stadium Surulere, Lagos. Awalebi, who disclosed that he worked with a popular land owner in Lekki stated that he earns N40, 000:00 monthly from the property dealer for helping to protect his landed property in the axis. The Nigerian currency – Naira – on Thursday staged a major recovery at the parallel market as it appreciated to a band of N225 to N230 to a dollar, compared to N240 to the dollar at which it sold in the last few weeks. According to forex dealers, the naira’s gain was due to surplus supply of the greenback in the market, even as it looked like a lot of speculators would lose their shirts. Information gathered says commercial banks that presently have dollars in excess of $1 billion in their vaults have started taking desperate measures to mitigate currency risk. According to a bureau de change (BDC) operator, banks have stopped accepting dollars because they have too much cash in their vaults. “The reason the banks have too much cash is due to speculation and money laundering. A lot of people have been speculating against the naira and amassed so much cash. Best Nigerian rapper  Olamide  has extended his endorsement deal with major telco Etisalat. The YBNL rapper shared a photo of him signing his renewal contract today, June 23, 2015, which will make him an Etisalat ambassador for at least another year. Olamide along with Chocolate City rapper Ice Prince signed on as ambassadors of the telecommunication company in 2013.
